- Albendazole is a carbamat benzimidazol derivatives, has broad activity on intestinal worms like hookworms (Ancylostoma duoenale, with the Necator americanus), roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides), pinworm (Enterobius vermicularis), strongyloidiasis (Strongyloides stercoralis) , whipworms (Trichuris trichiura), worms Capillaria (Capillaria philippinensis), trichinosis (Trichinella spiralis) and the larvae migrate in the body and skin; the type of tapeworm and fluke larvae in tissues (such as Echinococcus granulosus, E. multilocularis and E. neurocysticercosis).

Each film-coated tablet contains: Albendazole 400 mg ........................................
Excipients: Cavamax W 7, sodium lauryl sulfate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium saccharin, magnesium stearate, talc, HPMC, Candurin silver fine, FD & C 6 yellow lake, oils orange, Ethanol 96%, ion-exchange water.
PRESENTATION:
Box of 1 blister x 2 film-coated tablets.

- Albendazole is active across the stage of maturation and larval stages of these intestinal worms and kill the eggs of Ascaris, Trichuris.
- Mechanism of action of the benzimidazol other similar albendazole. Drugs linked to the parasite tubules, inhibiting polymerisation of tubules tubules into the cytoplasm of the cell is necessary for the normal operation of the parasite cell.

- After oral administration, albendazole is absorbed very poor (5%). Most effective against intestinal helminths occur. To take effect occurs in tissues, to high doses and long term.
- Due to a very strong step metabolism, should not see albendazole hoacchi found in trace plasma. After a single dose albendazole 400 mg, peak concentrations of metabolites in plasma sulfoxide achieve about 0.04 to 0.55 mcg / ml after 1-4 hours. When used with fatty foods, plasma concentrations increased 2-4 times.
- Albendazole sulfoxide linked to plasma proteins up to 70%. Long-term use in the treatment of cysts, albendazole sulfoxide concentrations in the fluid cysts may reach about 20% of plasma concentrations. Albendazole sulfoxide pass the blood-brain barrier and cerebrospinal fluid concentrations by about 1/3 of plasma concentrations.
- Albendazole is rapidly and completely oxidized metabolite albendazole sulfoxide is effective, then again be transformed into the compound to no longer work as albendazole sulfone.
- Albendazole has a half-life of about 9 hours. Sulfoxide metabolites are excreted through the kidneys and socks sulfone metabolite and other metabolites. A negligible amount of sulfoxide metabolites are excreted in bile.

- Infection with one or more types of intestinal parasites such as roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, Trichuris, eel worms, flukes saliva, liver fluke disease, liver fluke disease and type Opisthorchis viverrini Opisthorchis sinensis, larvae disease immigration in the skin.

- When treating short time (no more than 3 days) can be seen a few cases of gastrointestinal discomfort (epigastric pain, diarrhea, vomiting) and headache. In case of high doses and prolonged, unwanted effects may face more and more severe.
- Allergic reactions such as rash, pruritus, urticaria was also noted but very rare.
Notify doctor undesired effects encountered during the treatment.
CAREFUL:
- For patients with abnormal liver function before treatment with albendazole should be considered carefully because the drug is metabolized in the liver and have seen a handful of patients with liver toxicity. Just be careful with the people with blood disorders.
- Pregnancy: not recommended except where required. The patient is not pregnant during at least one month after taking albendazole. If patients are taking pregnancy detection must be discontinued immediately.
- Women who breastfeed: unknown drug levels in milk secretion, so should be very careful when using albendazole for breastfeeding women.
- The impact of drugs while driving and operating machinery: drugs do not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
- Stable at low concentrations in the plasma of albendazole sulfoxide is about 50% higher than when used in combination with dexamethasone 8 mg per dose adding albendazole (15 mg / kg / day).
- Praziquantel increases the average concentrations in plasma and area under the curve of albendazole sulfoxide approximately 50% compared to using albendazole alone (400mg).
- Albendazole sulfoxide concentrations in bile and cysts increased to about 2 times the cysts in patients when used in combination with cimetidine (10 mg / kg / day) than those taking albendazole alone (20 mg / kg / day).
